These terms govern your use of the PCE mobile application, including all of its content and services (the App). By downloading, installing or using the App you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. WHO WE ARE
The App is published by Sandbox Corp Limited, company number 17485326, registered office 21 Ellis Street, London, England, SW1X 9AL, United Kingdom, trading as Pet Care Essentials and as PCE.
You can contact us through the App, through the contact form at pce.org.uk, or by telephone on 0800 000 0000.
2. YOUR LICENCE TO USE THE APP
We grant you a personal, non exclusive, non transferable, revocable licence to install and use the App on a device that you own or control, for your own personal, non commercial purposes, in accordance with these terms and with the rules of the app store from which you obtained it.
We reserve all other rights. The App and all intellectual property rights in it belong to us or to our licensors.
You must not:
- (a) copy, modify, adapt, translate, reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the App, except to the extent that the law expressly permits it;
- (b) rent, lease, sub licence, lend, sell, distribute or otherwise make the App available to any third party;
- (c) remove, obscure or alter any proprietary notice in the App;
- (d) use the App on a device that has been jailbroken or rooted, or otherwise circumvent any technical protection;
- (e) use the App to build a competing product or service, or to extract data at scale; or
- (f) use the App other than in accordance with the Acceptable Use Policy.
3. APP STORE TERMS
You obtain the App from a third party app store. The app store operator's own terms apply to your download and to any in app purchase you make through it.
These terms are between you and us, not between you and the app store operator. The app store operator is not responsible for the App or for its content, and is not responsible for providing support.
You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a United Kingdom or United States government embargo, and that you are not on any government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
4. YOUR ACCOUNT
Some features require an account. You must give accurate information when you register and keep it up to date.
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity that takes place under your account. Tell us at once if you believe your account has been accessed without your authority.
You must be at least 18 to hold an account. If you are under 18 you may use the App only through an account held by a parent or guardian.
5. PERMISSIONS THE APP REQUESTS
The App asks for permissions on your device so that particular features can work. You can refuse or withdraw any permission in your device settings, and the feature that depends on it will stop working.
| Permission | Why the App asks for it |
|---|---|
| Location | To show your position relative to your pet on the Smart Tag map, to target lost pet alerts to the right area, and to show nearby Pet Network listings and Pet Nanny profiles. |
| Notifications | To send escape alerts, lost pet alerts, renewal reminders and compliance alerts. |
| Camera and photo library | To let you add a photograph of your pet and to upload documents to Pet Wallet. |
| Bluetooth | To pair and communicate with the Smart Tag. |
| Contacts | Only if you choose to invite someone. We do not upload your contact list. |
Background location collection continues while a Smart Tag is paired and active so that escape alerts can work. You can turn this off at any time, and the alerts will stop.
6. CONTENT YOU SUBMIT
The App lets you upload photographs, documents, profile information, reviews and messages. You keep ownership of what you submit.
You grant us a non exclusive, royalty free, worldwide licence to host, store, reproduce and display your content for the purpose of operating the App and providing the services to you and, where you have chosen to share it, to the people you have shared it with.
You warrant that you own or are licensed to use what you submit, and that it does not infringe anyone's rights.
Content you submit must comply with the Acceptable Use Policy. We may remove content that does not, and we may suspend or close an account that repeatedly breaches it.
7. AVAILABILITY, UPDATES AND DEVICES
We do not warrant that the App will be available uninterrupted or free from error. We may suspend availability for maintenance.
From time to time we may issue updates. Depending on your settings, updates may install automatically. If you do not install an update, parts of the App may stop working.
We may stop supporting older operating system versions or older devices. We will give reasonable notice where we can.
You are responsible for your device, for your data charges, and for the connectivity the App needs.
8. ENDING YOUR USE
You may stop using the App at any time and delete it from your device. Deleting the App does not cancel a Membership and does not cancel a microchip registration. To cancel a Membership see the Membership Terms and Cancellation.
We may suspend or end your access to the App if you breach these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy.
9. LIABILITY
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
The App is provided for your general use. We are not liable for any decision you take about your animal's health, safety or care, and we are not liable for the acts or omissions of any third party you find through the App.
If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including your rights in respect of digital content.
Subject to clause 9.1, our total liability to you in connection with the App is limited to £1,000.
10. GENERAL
We may change these terms. We will tell you through the App before a material change takes effect. If you do not accept the change, stop using the App.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Section 11 of the Website Terms and Conditions applies to jurisdiction.
